Join the lab

We are always interested in motivated people who want to build AI that empowers people. Our students publish at leading venues, work on federally funded projects, and collaborate across disciplines and institutions.

Prospective Ph.D. students

Apply to the Ph.D. program in Human-Centered Computing or Computer Science at Clemson University's School of Computing and mention the HAIE Lab and Dr. Toxtli in your statement. The lab recruits students to work on its active funded projects in agentic AI, AI for science, human-autonomy teaming, trustworthy AI and the future of work.

School of Computing graduate programs

M.S. students

Master's students can join through thesis research, directed research projects (CPSC/HCC 8880) or course projects that grow into publications. Several of the lab's papers are first-authored by M.S. researchers.

Undergraduates

Clemson undergraduates can participate through Creative Inquiry, departmental honors theses (CPSC 4950) and independent study (CPSC 4810). Undergraduate researchers in the lab have co-authored papers at venues such as ACM CHI.

Visitors & collaborators

We welcome collaborations with researchers in academia, national laboratories and industry, and visiting students and scholars interested in human-centered AI.
