About

Nicholas Joseph Berns was an undergraduate researcher in the HAIE Lab, first on a team building AI tools that integrate with virtual reality hardware for multi-screen work in the metaverse (2023) and later as a Creative Inquiry researcher (2025-2026). Nicholas co-authored A Formative Investigation of Student Perceptions of Digital Twin Instructors in Remote Lecture Environments (CHI 2026 Extended Abstracts), studied Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration at Clemson, and now works in digitalization at Schaeffler.
